    Writing good prompts

The clearer your prompt, the more accurate and usable the results. Think of it as describing the icon to a designer: what object, what style, and what feel.

    Instead of…Try…
settingsa gear icon, minimal, monochrome, flat style
usera person silhouette icon, outline style, rounded corners
emailan envelope icon, 3D style, soft shadows, light blue
shoppinga shopping cart sticker, pastel colors, cute cartoon style
TipsInclude the object, the visual style (flat, outline, 3D, sticker), and a color if consistency matters. Avoid abstract concepts — icons work best when they represent a clear, recognizable object.

    Choosing a style

The Icon Generator offers multiple visual styles. You can either select one from the style picker in the tool, or include the style name directly in your prompt for more control.

Note for editors⚠️ Verify the exact style names available in the tool before publishing and update this section accordingly. The list below is a placeholder based on observed tool behavior.
    • Flat — Simple, clean shapes with solid fills. Works well for UI and app icons.
    • Outline — Line-based icons with no fill. Ideal for minimal interfaces.
    • 3D — Volumetric icons with depth and shadows. Great for landing pages and presentations.
    • Sticker — Illustrated style with outlines and expressive characters. Good for social and messaging.
    • Gradient — Icons with smooth color transitions. Common in modern app design.

    Formats and downloading

Generated icons are available in two formats. Choose based on how you plan to use them:

    FormatBest forCredit cost
PNGFixed-size use: social media, presentations, mockupsFree — no credits consumed
SVGScalable use: web, apps, print — resizes without quality loss600 credits per download or copy
TipIf you're unsure which format to use, download PNG first to check the result. Only switch to SVG when you need it for production — it costs credits.

You can also copy an icon directly to your clipboard in either format. Copying SVG consumes the same credit cost as downloading.

    Editing generated icons

Once you have a generated icon, you can refine it further:

    • Regenerate — Not satisfied with all four results? Adjust your prompt or style and generate again.
    • Open in Image Editor — Download as PNG and open it in the Freepik Image Editor to recolor, resize, or add effects.
    • Open in Design Editor — Use the downloaded SVG in the Design Editor to edit individual paths and colors, or place the icon inside a template.
SVG icons are fully scalable and editable as vector shapes. If you need precise color control or want to adjust individual elements, SVG is the right format to use for editing.
